What Makes it Green? Winners Selected

Last night AIA Seattle selected the top 10 entries to the 2009 What Makes it Green? competition. Recognition was awarded to a broad range of project types and sizes, recognizing exemplary performance in sustainable design for both built and on the boards projects. The jury of notable sustainable design leaders and co-chairs included:

  • Kevin Hydes, former Chair of the World Green Building Council, and U.S. Green Building Council, past president of Keen Engineering and Vice President of Stantec.
  • Sandy Wiggins, immediate past chair of the U.S. Green Building Council and Director and Founding Chair of the Green Building Certification Institute.
  • Gwynne Pugh, co-founder of Pugh+Scarpa Architects
  • Tom Paladino, Found and President of Paladino and Company (co-chair)
  • Dave Goldberg, Mithun (co-chair)

Winning projects included:

  • The Terry Thomas Building, Seattle, WA - Weber Thompson
  • EPA Region 8 Headquarters, Denver, CO - Zimmer Gunsul Frasca
