Our Approach

The value of environmental performance is ever-increasing. With a distinctive background of architecture, engineering, and management expertise, we capture this value for you through innovation and design excellence in an approach called green building. Green buildings optimize performance in an environmentally friendly, economically profitable, and socially responsible model of development.

How We Integrate With LEED

Our unique Project Management Matrix combines traditional project phases with LEED Credit Phases, helping the entire team schedule LEED efforts, identify critical issues and avoid missed opportunities:

Pre-Design | Schematic Design | Design Development | Construction Documents | Construction Administration

Paladino & Company's Project Management Matrix

Our strategic role in each phase of the design process includes:

PreDesign:

  • Assemble appropriate site and climate data
  • Review, identify, and assess high priority green building issues
  • Work with design team and owner to set sustainability and LEED goals early in the project
  • Facilitate a design Eco Charrette with entire design team to brainstorm ideas, barriers, and solutions
  • Develop clear objectives to serve as a road map for the whole project

Schematic Design:

  • Write “Green Basis of Design” which serves as a roadmap of the specific goals and strategies
  • Conduct feasibility studies for topics identified in the
  • Eco Charrette
  • Validate technical design
  • Predict economic and environmental performance benefits

Design Development:

  • Conduct energy and daylight modeling to inform design decisions
  • Write technical reports quantifying design criteria and their benefit savings streams
  • Provide technical assistance to support the selected green proposals
  • Develop a Measurement & Verification plan template to ensure operations issues are addressed during the design of the building
  • Research appropriate green and natural materials (find materials that meet multiple criteria such as low toxicity, low embodied energy, high recycled content, highly durable, and are easily maintained)
  • Review drawings and specifications to assure related sustainability and LEED requirements are included
  • Delegate LEED critical path milestone assignments; Conduct periodic assessments to assure project and LEED goals are being met
  • Begin documenting LEED credits for certification application binder

Construction Documents

  • Continue to research products and systems for inclusion in final documen
  • Continue to research products and systems for inclusion in final documen
  • Review drawings and specifications to assure related sustainability and LEED requirements are included
  • Conduct periodic assessments to assure project and LEED goals are being met; Continue documenting LEED credits for certification application binder

Construction Administration

  • Conduct pre-bid meeting so appropriate and informed bids are submitted
Respond to contractor requests for information
  • Review submittals, including substitution requests that may affect building performance or a LEED credit
  • Conduct site visits focusing on implementation of green and LEED features during construction
  • Collect and assemble construction documentation for LEED Application
