A large contingent of Paladino consultants is in New Orleans for Greenbuild, the industry’s largest expo and conference. We’re eager to meet with our green building colleagues to discuss the trends, drivers and challenges in sustainable real estate today.
Paladino’s 20th Anniversary
We kicked off Paladino 20th anniversary yearlong celebration earlier this month. I can’t think of a more appropriate place to mark this occasion than Greenbuild, among the pioneers and innovators who continue to transform the market and push for ever higher performance.
Throughout the year, Paladino will be planning special programs involving our clients and friends as we look to spearhead even more sustainability innovations.
I will be honored to accept a USGBC Leadership Award at the Leadership Luncheon, and to participate in the closing plenary session, at which New York Times Op-Ed Columnist David Brooks will be the keynote speaker. I’ll share the stage at this session with other early leaders of the sustainability movement: Bob Berkebile, Kath Williams, David Gottfried, Alex Wilson, Martha Jane Murray, Peter Templeton, and Scot Horst.
What’s Next for Sustainability?
I started the company with the goal of reducing the negative impact of buildings on the environment. Since then, we’ve spent 20 years building our reputation around a single idea – sustainable real estate creates business results.
Then and now: Paladino’s houseboat offices in 2000, and its new LEED v4 Gold headquarters in Seattle today
Over the past 20 years, we’ve broadened the definition of a high performance building. We’ve gone beyond the goal of reducing utility bills and shifted the focus to the positive impacts of health, wellness and productivity benefits for occupants of buildings.
We’ve moved from greening a single building to creating comprehensive, large-scale frameworks that drive change throughout real estate portfolios, and the people who manage them, across the country and the globe.
The collaboration with our clients — across disciplines, business units and companies — has been the foundation of our achievements. Paladino and Company would not be here if it weren’t for our clients, partners and peers collaborating to reach our shared goals.
